Dedicated Ear Care Solutions
Your ears are delicate and trusting your wax removal to me is a privilege. I provide a range of aural care services including microsuction and ear irrigation. I am a qualified and experienced audiologist and focus on exceptional ear care in the comfort of your home across the West Lake District area.
Why Remove Wax?
Ear wax protects the delicate skin of the ear canal. It contains antibacterial agents that help prevent infection, and it is sticky, catching dirt and dust. Wax is the natural self-cleaning mechanism of the ear being made in the outer third of the ear canal (nearest the entrance). As the skin of the ear canal grows outwards, it brings the old wax and it’s collected debris with it. For most people wax is not a problem and can be left alone.
However, wax can cause a hearing problem or become uncomfortable if it blocks the ear canal completely, has been pushed further down the ear than it would naturally be, or becomes impacted. For people who wear hearing aids, a build-up of wax can prevent the hearing aids from working as effectively as they should.
The eardrum and skin in the ear canal are extremely delicate and easily damaged potentially leading to a perforated eardrum or infection. Wax should always be removed by a trained healthcare professional.

Client-Centred Care
Your needs come first, and I am pleased to provide personalised and attentive care.
I will go through your medical history relating to your ears with you, and examine your ears using magnification. If needed, I can remove wax using three different techniques depending on your medical history and wishes. Usually this will be using microsuction (using a tiny hoover to suck out the wax) but I can also irrigate the ears using warm water or manually pick out the wax using tiny instruments if needed or preferred.
After-care guidance will always be offered.

Cost
A consultation fee of £25 is payable per visit.
If wax is found and cleared the total cost is £60.00 (including the consultation fee).
